What does the program look like?

What can you expect from our Black Belt training?

During the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course, we create a learning environment where you can immediately apply and practice what you’ve learned. We offer a dynamic mix of theory and practice, making extensive use of interaction and assignments. A key part of this training involves working with statistical analyses, for which you will need Excel and MiniTab 16, 17, or 18 during the program.

What does the program look like?

  • Module 1 (2 days)
You will learn the fundamentals and essence of Lean and Six Sigma. Lean working is about Lean Doing (the techniques) and Lean Being (the right mindset)! We will teach you how to effectively initiate the right improvement project.
  • Module 2 (3 days)
You will learn how to measure, analyze, and improve processes. You will practice primarily with Lean and change management techniques and directly apply them to a mini-project during the simulation game.
  • Module 3 (2 days)
You will get acquainted with the Six Sigma methodology. Using the DMAIC framework, you will learn how to continuously improve and optimize processes through data analysis.
  • Module 4 (2 days)
After diving deeper into statistics and MiniTab, you will learn how to perform an initial process analysis. Various project methods and tools will be discussed, along with the competencies needed to succeed as a true Black Belt.
  • Module 5 (2 days)
“Measurement is knowledge.” In this module, you will learn how to set up and conduct reliable measurements. You will also validate your measurement system to ensure accurate process performance assessments.
  • Module 6 (2 days)
From problem to cause to solution. Using (applied!) statistics, you will uncover the true causes of failing processes. Through interactive sessions, the theory will come to life, enabling you to make data and statistics work for you.
  • Module 7 (2 days)
With the root causes identified, you will learn to develop improvements using both Lean solutions and statistical experiments and models. You will also learn how to implement and sustain these improvements, ensuring that continuous learning and improvement become second nature.

Lean vs. Lean Six Sigma: What’s the difference, and which is the best choice for me?

Lean focuses on eliminating waste to increase efficiency, while Lean Six Sigma focuses on reducing both waste and process variation. If you are looking for a more holistic approach to process improvement with an emphasis on quality improvement, Lean Six Sigma might be the best choice. If your main goal is to enhance efficiency, Lean may be sufficient.

Green Belt vs. Black Belt: What’s the difference, and which is the best choice for me?

As a Green Belt, you spend about 20% of your time identifying problems, implementing solutions, and optimizing processes, leaving enough time for other tasks. In contrast, a Black Belt spends more time on Lean Six Sigma, tackling more complex problems and leading multiple improvement projects.

Green Belts focus on solving problems within a specific department, with responsibilities similar to those of a project manager. Black Belts, however, have greater responsibilities and take on a leadership role.
